Betel Leaf Rasam: Why this comfort dish is a must have in summers


To make this healthy Rasam, blend betel leaves along with cumin, pepper, dried red chillies, curry leaves, green chillies, and garlic cloves to make a coarse paste powder. Now, add tomatoes to it and blend to make fine puree. Next, in a wok or kadhai, make a tempering of ghee, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Allow it to splutter and then add tamarind water, and salt. Lastly, add betel leaves and spices puree. Bring it to a boil and serve hot. (Image: istock)
