Dwarakish married Ambuja at a young age. The couple together had 5 children. Their marriage could not work for some unknown reasons and they got separated. Later, Ambuja passed away in 2021.
Dwarakish’s second marriage took place in 1993. At age 51, he married Shailaja and they together had one child. Shailaja used to work in the State Bank of Mysore. She first approached Dwarakish for her elder sister’s daughter. First, Shailaja and Dwarakish became friends, and finally, they fell in love.
Actor Dwarakish Death
On 16 April 2024, Kannada actor Dwarakish passed away from a cardiac arrest in Bengaluru. He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed his condolences after hearing the news of Dwarakish’s passing. The PM stated that Dwarakish had greatly contributed to the Indian film industry.

Dwarakish with his brother started his career in Gandhi Square, Mysore by opening a spare-parts business named Bharath Auto Spares. He was still interested in acting and often asked his maternal uncle for opportunities to act in movies. His uncle was a popular cinema director by the name of Hunusur Krishnamurthy.
- He finally decided to quit his other businesses and start acting in 1963. His acting journey took off with small roles in movies. His first role was as a prince in the Veera Sankalpa, a film directed by his uncle Hunasur Krishnamoorty. Then, he acted in films like Satya Harischandra and Maduve Madi Nodu.
- Debut in Production: Mamatheya Bandhana was the first movie co-produced by Dwarakish and 2 other people under the Thunga Pictures banner.
- His first solo production movie was Mayor Muthanna. It was a big box office success and starred Bharathi and Dr. Rajkumar in the leading roles.
- For the next 2 decades, he gave many hit movies in the Kannada film industry.
- After getting success in the movie production business, Dwarakish started directing movies himself. His first movie as a director was Nee Bareda Kadambari. It was released in 1985. After this movie, he directed movies for many other producers.
- Things did not always go as planned for him. His career journey had many ups and downs. He faced many failures in the movie business. His colleagues in the industry started to write him off, but he kept making movies and even introduced some new faces.
- Later in 2004, he produced Apthamitra, a big commercial success.
- Dwarakish became the first Kannada producer to bring Kishore Kumar into the Kannada cinema. Aadu Aata Aadu song became very popular among Kannada content viewers.

Dwarakish got the honour of shooting the first Kannada movie outside of India. His Kannada film Apthamitra also created records. Two theatres at Ranajith in Mysore and Santosh in Bangalore kept screening this movie for one year. Throughout that year, at least 4 shows were played for this movie daily. He also received an NTR Award.
