Having said that, Madhuri who has been a superstar herself in real life shares that, due to her star status in India, true independence and freedom wasn’t easy for her to attain. It was difficult. In an interview with a magazine, Madhuri shared, having grown up in a protected environment, her parents would accompany her to film sets in India and along with that, her team of almost 20 people would always guard and surround her, so doing her own work was never a thing and pretty challenging.
She added that things took a turn when she moved to the United States with her husband Dr Sriram Nene. Madhuri shared that she had to do things on her own, bring up her kids, and as she grew older, she matured and learnt a lot herself. Today, when portraying a character of choosing a film, she uses those experiences.
Earlier in an interaction with ETimes, Madhuri shares how she was treated as a normal person or a daughter at home. “I mean, even when I was working in films, my mom used to scold me if my room was messed up and things like that. So that’s how I was brought up. And that’s how I am. When I go home, everything is back in the studio. I see my kids and I see my husband and it’s just a different life. I never really lost myself.”
